A Dream Come True for South Carolina's Children: Palmetto Health Children's Hospital
| Palmetto Health Foundation's Pediatric Surgery Project Palmetto Health Foundation has begun a pediatric surgery fund raising project to create a Children's Hospital Surgery Center. The new area, expected to open in summer 2009, will be designed to physically separate children and adolescents from the hospital's adult population in both the preoperative intake area and the post anesthesia recovery area (PACU). An age-appropriate environment consisting of 13 outpatient surgery beds and 12 PACU beds will offer child life specialist interventions to optimize the surgical experience for pediatric patients.

Palmetto Health Foundation is pleased to announce the completion of our $20 million capital campaign to build the Midlands' first and only freestanding children's hospital. Upon completion of the capital campaign, Palmetto Health Foundation also received an additional $1 million capital challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation.
The ribbon cutting for the new Palmetto Health Children's Hospital was held Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Hundreds of people joined in the celebration of a place that serves more than 82,000 children per year.

Palmetto Health Baptist Renovation and Expansion

| Dedicated to its mission of providing healthcare with excellence and compassion, Palmetto Health Baptist is planning an expansion and renovation of surgical services, perinatal services and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) services. The $57 million investment will give Palmetto Health Baptist state-of-the-art facilities for the delivery of care in surgery, obstetrics and neonatal intensive care. Palmetto Health Baptist Chief Nursing Officer Caroline Seigler says the project will modernize the facility to better accommodate long-term growth of healthcare services, new technologies and practices and employment opportunities in an environment focused on family-centered patient care.
